The need for entrepreneurship development in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized. Nigeria has been rated among nations with low entrepreneurial capacities. That is why the nation has a high rate of unemployment, low standard of living, depressed economy, sky rocketing inflation, very low Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and so on. Whereas, developed countries like China, Germany, Japan, etc are known to have high entrepreneurial capacities. Researchers have discovered that Entrepreneurship development aids in the economic growth and development of nations. China that was underdeveloped and over populated about two decades ago is now one of the world powers because they embraced entrepreneurship. About a decade and a half ago, a new awakening arose in Nigeria on the importance of entrepreneurship development. Entrepreneurship development programs were introduced in secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria as compulsory courses, this was done in order to boost the nation's entrepreneurial capacity which was discovered to be very low. Incentives and support systems were launched such as Microfinance banks, SMEDEN, EDIs and so on. All were introduced to enhance entrepreneurship in the nation in order to boost economic growth and development. Unfortunately, all the programs and support systems launched have not yielded the desired results: Nigeria's entrepreneurial capacity is still all time low. This indicates that there are constraints entrepreneurs are faced with. These constraints needs to be identified and nipped in the bud, for entrepreneurship to flourish in Nigeria. Therefore the thrust of this study is to explore the challenges that entrepreneurs are faced with in Nigeria and proffer recommendations which will help boost entrepreneurship development for sustainable economic growth and development in Nigeria.
