The paper examines the relationship between electricity consumption and economic development and engineering practice in Nigeria in Nigeria. The paper established a link between electricity consumption and economic development. In order words, there is a positive indicator of electricity consumption impacting significantly on growth. The study also affirms a causal relationship between electricity consumption and economic development. The paper recommends that electricity agencies do more to ensure maximum generation and sustenance transmission of electricity. Among others, the paper concludes that no nation, developing or developed can improve economically and technologically without adequate electricity supply. The paper also suggests that the government must fulfil its roles but also ensure that electricity mangers are playing by the rules.
